Theoretical Orientation
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and by modifying unhelpful thinking, we can create positive changes in our emotions and actions. CBT is highly effective in treating anxiety, depression, OCD, and other mental health conditions. Its benefits include developing healthier coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing problem-solving skills, leading to long-term psychological well-being.
Person-Centered Therapy
Person-Centered Therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, is a humanistic approach that emphasizes an individual’s innate potential for growth and self-improvement. It is based on the belief that people thrive in an environment of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness from their therapist. The therapist provides a supportive space where clients can explore their feelings and develop a stronger sense of self. The benefits of Person-Centered Therapy include increased self-awareness, improved self-esteem, and greater emotional resilience, empowering individuals to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.
ACT Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy that helps individuals accept their thoughts and emotions rather than trying to eliminate or control them. It encourages psychological flexibility by focusing on values-driven actions, even in the presence of discomfort. ACT combines acceptance strategies, cognitive defusion, and commitment to meaningful goals to help individuals create a fulfilling life. The benefits of ACT include reduced psychological distress, improved emotional resilience, and greater ability to engage in valued activities, making it particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and chronic pain management.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness therapy is an approach that integrates mindfulness practices—such as meditation, breathwork, and present-moment awareness—into the therapeutic process to help individuals cultivate a nonjudgmental awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. By fostering a state of acceptance and self-compassion, mindfulness therapy reduces reactivity to stress and enhances emotional regulation. The benefits include decreased anxiety and depression, improved focus and cognitive flexibility, and greater overall well-being. It is particularly effective in managing stress, chronic pain, and relapse prevention in depression and addiction recovery.
SPACE Treatment
Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) is a parent-based treatment developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center to help children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and related issues. Proven effective in clinical trials, SPACE focuses on changing parents’ behaviors rather than trying to change the child’s behavior. Parents learn to respond to their child’s anxiety in a more supportive way while also reducing accommodations that unintentionally reinforce symptoms. Since the child does not need to attend sessions, SPACE empowers parents to create a healthier environment that fosters long-term anxiety reduction and improved functioning
My Approach & Philosophy
I specialize in working with adolescents and adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, and the stresses of demanding environments. My approach is holistic and integrative, combining evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with person-centered therapy, ACT, and mindfulness. I strive to create a safe and collaborative space where you can explore your experiences, gain deeper self-awareness, and develop practical tools to manage your symptoms and foster meaningful, lasting change.
I also support families in navigating the impact of anxiety and OCD. As a trained provider in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), I help parents create healthier dynamics by reducing accommodations that may reinforce their child’s anxious behaviors. By focusing on positive changes within the family system, we work together to build a more supportive and empowering environment for everyone involved.
My background as a lawyer gives me a unique perspective on the pressures of high-stakes careers and the emotional toll they can take. This insight informs my work with individuals seeking to balance the demands of their personal and professional lives, whether you’re navigating burnout, managing perfectionism, or striving for greater well-being. No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to help you create a path toward resilience, balance, and growth.
